Satellite SAC - E

The SABIA-Mar (or SAC-E) satellite, scheduled to be launched in 2017, is a Brazilian/Argentinean earth observation satellite. It is focused on ocean surface monitoring, specially studies of ocean ecosystems, the carbon cycle, marine habitats, coastal hazards and land use mapping.
The satellite is part of a cooperation project between Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales and National Institute for Space Research and will operate until 2021.
The main objective of the mission is to collect and provide data on water and food production, with high spectral, geometrical and temporal resolution over the Mercosur area.
