Experimental Vehicle VEX-5
The VEx-5 is a suborbital test vehicle to evaluate technologies of the Tronador-2 launcher.
The vehicle is developed by VENG S.A., a state owned company and work is being overseen by the National Commission on Space Activities (CONAE). The vehicle uses a single engine of the first stage (30tnf, RP-1/LOX) in a custom first stage. The objective is to validate the first stage propulsion.
Two flights, called VEx-5a and VEx-5b are planned.
The VEx-5c is an upgraded two stage version. The vehicle uses a single engine of the first stage (30tnf, RP-1/LOX) in a custom first stage and the VEX-1 as second stage on top, plus a fairing. The objective is to validate the first stage propulsion, staging and fairing separation.
